Smoothie Saturday | May 2016

For this smoothie I tried to incorporate something extra healthy into it, so if you are more of a health nut who can take the taste then this smoothie is for you but if not like me, don't try it. I for sure won't be making this again but I figured somebody out there may like it.

Ingredients:
1 Ataulfo Mango
200 ml Tropicana Orange and lime juice
2 tsp wheatgrass powder

I was in whole foods when I thought of this recipe, to Kensington and I saw a variety of mango I had never seen before and figured I would give them a go.
I think its an Ataulfo mango but I'm not sure, it was very sour in taste.
I added wheat grass powder because of the massive range of vitamins and minerals contained and the benefits to you health, hair and skin, I was also going to add spinach but I forgot.
Now as I said before I couldn't stomach this smoothie, it smelt like freshly cut grass and I really didn't like the taste, but maybe you might.

Enjoy.

Quinoa Salad

Like many people I'm trying to live healthier, this includes eating well but I still want to eat food that I enjoy, surprising to some people I love fruit and veg so here is a recipe for quinoa salad. I made a huge batch of this so that it can last me the week while I'm at university because I can keep going back and snacking when I need too.

Ingridients:
Quinoa (kinda obvious)
Broccoli
Potato
Green beans
Bell peppers
Cucumber
Beetroot
Onion
Apple
Plum tomates
Sweetcorn
Olive oil
Chilli powder

Method:
Well the method is simple, depending on the quinoa, cook it for how long it is instructed on the packet.
I peeled and chopped the potatoes and added some olive oil then sprinkled on some chilli powder, and did the same for the broccoli and half the green beans. Then Put them in the oven for around 10-15 minutes.

For the rest I washed cut and peeled then added it all together in a big casserole disband gave it a mix, I also added the rest of the raw green beans to add a crunch.

For me this is a huge batch but I know it will stop me from snacking of junk food, I can take it to university with me if I want or simply eat it at home.

Thank you for reading I hope you like the recipe.

Lush Wishlist

Happy Soap | Bright Side Bubble Bar | Sunny Side Bubble Bar
Happy Thoughts Bath Oil | Vit C Toner | Tea Tree Water
You've Been Mangoed | A French Kiss
Happy Pill

Welcome back, I hope your new year has, had a good start!

Now that I'm home from university, I am taking in the luxury of having a bath and have made a 'mini' Lush Wish list of some of the products I want to try out. Is there such thing a having too many Lush products? No? didn't think so.

Im intrigued to try the Vitamin C Toner because I love the idea of being able to pop it in to water when your skin is feeling drab, to refresh it and then you can bottle it up for another day. Most of the products I have picked are very citrus based , because I find them very rejuvinating and refreshing. I also picked A French Kiss because I have trouble sleeping and iv been told lavender can help you sleep.

Thank you for reading, I hope you liked this post, feel free to comment your suggestions.

Simple At Home Workout

I know that not everyone is able to go to the gym so I thought I would share with you guys a super simple workout that you guys can do at home, that doesn't need any equipment.

Before I start I would like to say that I am in no way an expert and I recommend you speak to an expert before doing these exercises because if you do some of these wrong you can do more damage than good. If you don't have an expert at hand then there are plenty of tutorials on youtube, I suggest Livestrong or Livestrongwomen.

-15 Crunches with leg lift (I have my legs propped up at a 45 degree angle on a chair)
-15 Tricep dips
-20 calf raises
-15 sumo squats
-30 bicycle crunches
-30 mountain climbers

Do 3 sets of these.

I hope you guys like this kind of post, if you would like more then comment or tweet me.

Smoothie Sunday | Apricot Delight

Once again I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried apricot, the only time I have eaten apricot is in   yogurt but I wanted to try the actual fruit so I made a smoothie.

Ingredients:
1 passion fruit
juice of half an orange
1 mango
3 apricots
100ml of coconut and pineapple juice.

This smoothie is for people with a sweet tooth, I hope you enjoy

When I payed for the apricots I was stood at the till for about 15 minutes because they weren't on the computer system so it took four different workers to work out how to pay.

I bought the coconut and pineapple juice because it is really expensive to buy coconut water on its own so I figured that this would be a good alternative and bought it, but silly me didn't read what was in it until I got home. It is full of added flavours and also milk, which I am sensitive with, I told you guys before I have a lot of bad luck.

My First Time | Gym Experience

I planned to have this up days ago but the gym and Naruto have stood in my way!

Being quite an anxious person the thought of going to the gym scared me to death, it had nothing to do with exercising because I enjoy it, but merely the thought of being in a room with people I didn't know and using equipment I didn't know stopped me from attempting.

What if I make a fool of my self on a machine?
What is I trip up and face plant the floor? (totally plausible with my luck)
Wont all of the gym goers watch me and judge me?
What is I break something? (myself, somebody else or some equipment)
What happens if I get stuck in the pod? (Pure Gym people will understand this)

With all that in mind I was happily living behind my macbook at home but my family joined forces and signed me up anyway, so I trudged along with my brother and came out unscathed so here is the story of my first gym escapade... Wow I've gone all Agatha Christie on you!

So really this story is quite simple! The gym is awesome, my brother showed me around, it is really big and spacious so you aren't treading on anybodies toes and all of the people are really nice will help you with anything if you ask.

On my first night I really just tried a bit of everything my brother happily dragged me around getting me to do lots of different exercises and when we turned to leave he had a grin like a cheshire cat as he proudly told me "TOMORROW IS LEG DAY".

To be honest I like leg day but thats just me.

Here are some of the thoughts that went through my head on the first night:

  • Why are these so many mirrors EVERYWHERE?
  • Who in hell thinks of how to build these machines and how they will work?
  • Wow how long did it take for that person to get muscles like that?
  • Well that is an interesting colour combination you have gone for, where did you find that shirt?
  • Just breath, keep running just two more minutes (looks at time on the treadmill) damn you've only been on it for 3 minutes I can't give up now.
  • Is that really how that machine works?
  • Water I need water...
  • There is no way I can do that!

At the moment I don't have a huge weight lost strategy or crazy diet planned I just want to get into a routine and get fit, then decide if there is anything more I want to do.

Also im not just throwing the gym in your face, you don't need a gym to keep fit I used to and still do work out at home, the gym was just a way for my family to get me out of the house because I'm a hermit who lives on my laptop.

I hope you all liked this post feel free to get in touch or comment!

Thank you for reading!

Ps how awesome are mine and my brothers shoes! The brightest in the gym.

Smoothie Saturday | Simple Summer Smoothie

As I write this the sun is trying to push through the clouds and speed light throughout the kitchen, so I am glad that I made a summer berry smoothie because is England is trying, I should probably try too.

Ingredients:

  • a cup of strawberries half frozen, half fresh
  • half a cup of blue berries
  • a cup of blackberries half fresh, half frozen
  • a handful of frozen mango chunks
  • handful of red grapes
  • a tea spoon of honey
  • 200ml of water
So like I said super simple its like a juice, I wanted to add almond milk and yogurt but I forgot to buy them when I went shopping, and my banana weren't ripe enough so I didn't add one because I'm a ripe banana kinda girl.

With this being super simple you can easily add so many ingredients to amp up this recipe, so have fun!!
Thank you for reading guys!

Smoothie Saturday!!

So this is what i'm calling my "muddle mix" I was going to have an apple and kiwi smoothie but it ended up with so much more ingredients!

Ingredients:
1 Apple
2 Kiwi's
1 Banana
A handful of frozen pineapple
A handful of frozen peach
1 tbspn of milled flax seed
150ml of water

I say this is a muddle mix because I was going to make a simple smoothie but when I went to the freezer I realised that there was only 2 ice cubes left and I left them because I know my brother would want it for his protein shake, but then I stumbled across the frozen fruit I completely forgot I had!!!

It doesn't look like the most appetizing smoothie in the world but it tastes amazing and smells like a sweet shop perfect for when you have a sugary craving, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Thanks for reading
P.s I just remembered that I used a ripe banana not a fresh store bought one.

January Favourites

Iv decided to start doing monthly favourite posts, so here are my favourites for January.

  • Zoella Fizz bar, this bar is genius I don't know why having a bar of breakable chunks has never been done before and it smells so god damn good.

  • Next up are scrunchies, simply because they are a simple but cute way to add to an outfit.

  • Maybelline Baby Lips in Hydrate, this stuff is getting my lips through the winter

  • Coconut water, iv never tried it before but now it goes into all my smoothies

  • Soap & Glory The Rightous Butter, also getting me through the winter and iv you have used it before then you will know the formula is bouncy to the touch and I love it.

  • Bleach London Balayage Kit, I recently used this to change up my hair and love the effects.

  • Tangle Teaser, well to put it nicely, my hair is a pain in the backside for knotting but this makes it so much easier.

  • My Primark Cleanser, this little thing makes life much easier.

  • My Bambi tights, because they are so damn cute!

  • True Blood, I recently started watching this and watched all seven season within 2 weeks... yes my college work took a hit.

Smoothie Saturday: Pineapple Green Smoothie

Pineapple and coconut water smoothie

Simple smoothie recipe for the first smoothie saturday of the year!

Ingredients:
2 & half cups of pineapple
200ml of coconut water
2 handfuls of kale
1 tbsp linseed mix

Just blend it all up and enjoy, this smoothie is tangy due to all the pineapple. If you want you can swap out some of the pineapple for frozen pineapple to keep it cool.

Linseed is packed with fibre to help with digestion and also omega 3, buy milled linseed because they have already been broken down, otherwise they won't be able to be digested easily!

I found it hard to find the seed and coconut water in the UK but you can go to Holland and Barrett, or alternatively go to Aldi, they now sell different types of linseed mixes in the cereal section and they have just started supplying coconut water!

I also advise you not to have more than 2 tablespoons of linseed
